Sherri Hansen is an attorney in our Labor & Employment and Litigation Practice Groups.
Sherri provides preventative counseling and strategic advice to employers on a wide range of matters, including wage-and-hour issues, anti-discrimination laws, and family and medical leaves. She also represents clients in connection with administrative charges filed with state and federal agencies, as well as in litigation. Sherri has represented both plaintiffs and defendants, and has successfully litigated cases in federal and state court, including several large, multimillion dollar class actions.
Before joining Folger Levin, Sherri began her legal career representing employees. This experience helps make her particularly adept at identifying and analyzing potential legal claims that may be asserted by employees, and at credibly negotiating with employee-side attorneys. She also uses this background to craft effective and legally compliant policies to help employers avoid litigation when possible and to achieve practical workplace solutions.
Sherri graduated from Stanford Law School, where she was awarded the Gerald Gunther Prize for Outstanding Performance in Employment Law, Torts, and Evidence. Sherri received her B.A., with honors, from Stanford University (Phi Beta Kappa).
Sherri also served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.
From 2019 to 2024, Super Lawyers Magazine selected Sherri as one of its Rising Stars, an honor reserved for only 2.5 percent of attorneys in Northern California each year.
Sherri currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Bay Area Lawyer Chapter of the American Constitution Society.
Sherri is admitted to practice in the state of California, the Northern District of California, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
