News & Updates: Folger Levin/Hood & Strong Conference for Independent School Managers

At this January 23, 2019 conference, Joe Bevington and Susan Ansberry outlined for independent school managers “5 Steps Independent Schools Should Take to Manage Legal Risk in 2019.”  Joe and Susan shared both legal requirements and best practices for (1) conducting criminal background checks for school employees, (2) classifying independent contractors in light of Dynamex, (3) conducting and providing good reference checks, (4) including key provisions in contracts with school contractors,  and (5) ensuring that enrollment agreements and student/parent handbooks give schools the flexibility to address a wide range of situations.  A copy of their presentation is here.
